Everyone at Maia is excited to welcome Morgan Showalter as a Project Coordinator. Morgan is a recent graduate from Iowa State University. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology after receiving her associate degree in equine science and equine management. Since joining, Morgan has been hard at work learning the ins and outs of medical equipment planning. Read below to learn more about Morgan!
I joined Maia in April of 2023 after deciding to make a career change. Previously, I worked at a youth shelter before starting at Maia. I was unsure what a big career change would look like, but I knew I was ready for something new. I have always been a big proponent of learning and knew this would be an opportunity for me to grow.
I also knew Cameron Graber from school, and he constantly spoke very highly of the company and the work done. He encouraged me to apply at Maia, and the rest is history. There is much for me to learn, but I am excited to see where this new adventure will take me!
My favorite aspect of Maia is the team environment and the fact that everyone is willing to help each other. If one of us needs help with a project, there is always someone willing to lend a helping hand. Maia’s focus on collaboration allows me to work with amazing people every day. I also greatly appreciate the help I have received from everyone at Maia while learning more about healthcare coordination. They all want to help each other succeed and will help you accomplish this in any way they can. I love that Maia has brought together people with different backgrounds and experiences to create a unique medical equipment planning company.
My favorite hobby would have to be horseback riding. I specifically love doing cattle work. I have been riding since I was four years old, and I also love training horses as a hobby. On top of my equestrian hobbies, I love all things art: such as, drawing, painting, or playing the violin. Every so often I also start a crocheting project, but that is usually in the winter when I am not as busy with my outdoor activities.
As I am still very new to the medical equipment planning field, I have not had the opportunity to experience every portion of a construction project. However, procurement has been my favorite part so far. Procurement is the phase where the ideas and concepts talked about for months during design finally start to come together. We get to begin purchasing the equipment and seeing it delivered, waiting to be placed in its new home.
Medical equipment planning is important because it allows medical facilities to focus on their patients while we handle creating an environment best suited to provide world-renowned care. One thing Maia holds true is being vendor neutral. We work with our clients to provide the best possible equipment based on their needs. Having medical equipment planners involved early allows the design of facilities to go smoother, ensuring all necessary components are taken care of early on. We focus on the smallest details so that others can focus on the high-level goals of the project.
