Employee Spotlight: Cameron Graber

This installment of the Maia employee spotlight is showcasing Cameron Graber. Cameron received a bachelor’s in biology with a minor in art from the University of Iowa. He comes from a research background but joined Maia in February of 2022. He is currently a Project Coordinator with Maia alongside Kate.

When did you join Maia and what made you join?

I joined Maia in 2022 after working in an academic research lab directly out of college. I heard about Maia from a mutual friend of Adam’s and mine. He mentioned Maia’s core values of ‘Authenticity, Curiosity, and Connection’ which resonated with me. After reading more about the company and the amazing work they do, I knew I had to apply. The healthcare field has always been a big part of my life and Maia seemed like a great fit.

What is your favorite aspect of Maia?

My favorite aspect of Maia is the flexibility the company allows and encourages. Being an active volunteer and avid traveler, knowing I can take time off when I need is a great relief. Work/life balance became a big part of what I sought after in a company after working in a research lab, and Maia embodies that principle. Maia truly believes there must be a balance between work and play, allowing us to thoroughly enjoy our time outside of work without having to constantly worry about work.

What are some of your personal hobbies?

I am a life-long volunteer for the American Cancer Society, truly aiming to end cancer as we know it. I am currently the co-lead for a nationwide volunteer team overseeing three main fundraising events for the Society with over 1 million participants for the organization. To decompress, I also love creating art, especially ceramics. I hope to one day have my own ceramic studio as a hobby to be able to create wheel thrown and hand-built pieces. Artemis, my pupper, and I also enjoy spending time outdoors. We love going to the mountains in Colorado and getting on the water in our kayak.

What is your favorite part of medical equipment planning and do you have a favorite project you have worked on as of yet?

My favorite part of medical equipment planning is working with the clients. Like my colleagues mentioned in previous posts, each project is unique. And with these unique projects comes unique personalities. I look forward to joining calls and working directly with the end-users. I am constantly learning as they provide so much insight into how their department works and what their needs are. My main goal every day is to ensure I make their lives easier, helping shoulder this responsibility.

I am still pretty new to the whole medical equipment field, so it’s hard to say if I have a favorite project so far. But one that I have enjoyed a lot is working on a sleep lab & clinic for the University of Colorado. I love working with the end-users and getting to learn the inner workings of their job and how they better patient lives. Knowing I am helping them in achieving those accomplishments means everything to me when going through my day-to-day work.

Why do you think medical equipment planning is important?

Medical equipment planning is important because there is a lot of coordination that must happen when outfitting spaces. We provide the capability of connecting all parties, ensuring all requirements for the equipment are provided for. This means working directly with the architects, contractors, end-users, facility management, etc. We provide a bridge between all of these people, taking the burden off of the hospital having to worry about it. Through our expertise, we aim to provide a seamless experience with equipment coordination and installation.

Cameron continues to bring in new insight through his experience in research, and we are excited to see him grow in the medical equipment field. Check back here in two weeks to hear from our Controller, Donna Rawana.
